October 17th, 2013
Last week the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) disciplinary panel, recommended that Jamaican star sprinter Veronica Campbell-Brown receive a public warning in respect of a failed drug test on samples she returned from the May 4 Jamaica International Invitational.
If the JAAA decision is approved by the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) Campbell- Brown would be cleared to compete immediately.
The JAAA’s official release on the matter, stated “The disciplinary committee has issued a ruling that Veronica Campbell-Brown has committed an anti-doping violation, contrary to IAAF Rule 32.2a. They have recommended that a reprimand without any period of ineligibility would be appropriate.”
Campbell-Brown was suspended provisionally by the JAAA after failing the test for a banned substance.
According to reports the panel that recently heard Campbell-Brown’s case ruled she did not use the prohibited substance in order to gain an unfair advantage or to enhance performance.
