The New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights has been fighting against the unfair rules of a maternity hospital in a poor area of Nairobi.
The hospital in the African capital literally detains the mothers who can’t afford paying the bills after their children are born, and director Lazarus Omondi says that keeping the people in there is the only way to stay open.
There have been episodes of women who were beaten up with sticks if they tried to go away passing the guards at the gate.
That is why now New York is trying to do something for those poor people who most of the times can’t even pay for their daily food.
