It seems that the rest of America is slowly learning what the African-American community has known for years; that within the police force is a squadron of brutes. How else can you explain why this 5’4 nurse was body slammed twice by police after they pulled her over for talking on her cell phone while driving?
According to KTLA 5, police pulled over Michelle Jordan, a 34-year-old nurse, last week for talking on her cell phone while driving. Jordan then pulled into a taco restaurant parking lot and got out of her car, and that’s when police say she began to sass them, and that’s what reportedly led to her being body slammed and arrested. Sound familiar? Henry Louis Gates was arrested outside of his home because a rogue cop didn’t like the tone Gates took with him. (That cop was later rewarded with a trip to the White House.)
In the video captured by restaurant surveillance, two male cops can be seen pulling on Jordan and throwing her to the ground twice, once while handcuffed. After they’d arrested Jordan and placed her in the police car, they gave each other a congratulatory fist bump.
Just a few weeks ago, Kulture Kritic reported that NYPD police officer Michael O’Brien was caught on tape bodyslamming 19-year-old Sean Pagan for evading a subway fare.
The cops in Jordan’s incident have been placed on desk duty pending an investigation.
“My initial review of the officers’ statements and the recorded video cause me to have serious concerns about this use of force,” Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck said in a statement.
